Three’s a Crowd

Once upon a time 52 windmills kept the Schermer polder dry. Of these, 11 have been preserved. These 3 mills worked together as a system to gradually drain the water away in 3 steps.

This photo was taken at sunset in an easterly direction. Therefore the yellow glow doesn’t come directly from the sun, but is a reflection.

The middle mill is set up as a museum.
