Bromo Volcano

If you want to see the famous sunrise at the Bromo volcano on Java, you have to get up early for a long drive. It is mandatory to use local transport with roaring Toyota Landcruisers.

We drove to the east side of the volcano and that means that the sunrise came from the wrong side. It was cloudy and the sun came through sparingly. A warm glow can be seen on this photo in the west direction.

Remarkable was the presence of many Asian photographers, who were neatly lined up behind a row of tripods.

The Bromo is the active volcano in the center of the photo and emits clouds of sulfur vapor.
