The post-war SS Rotterdam was one of the last line ships on the Trans Atlantic crossing. Due to the fierce competition from aviation, the ship was later used as a cruise ship. The abbreviation SS stands for steamship with oil-fired steam boilers.
Nowadays the ship is permanently in the port of Rotterdam and has been converted into a luxury hot accommodation. It is worth a visit because the 50s and 60s betrayed top class.
